Manufacturing Tooling Engineer

Location: Oshkosh, WI.

Employee Type: Full-Time

Job Summary: Provide stamping tooling and engineering expertise to Manufacturing and Maintenance departments to achieve optimal quality, safety, efficiency and cost levels for internal and external customers.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The candidate is expected to directly support manufacturing, tooling, and maintenance activities by:

Providing CAD tooling and setup documentation for existing products

Analyzing existing manufacturing processes and providing suggestions for improvement

Supporting sales activities through new product design and generating prototype samples for customer analysis

Organizing and managing tooling consumables inventory

Researching new materials and manufacturing methods

The candidate is a hands-on person with the ability to establish personal tasks to accomplish stated goals. The candidate needs to be a self starter who can work independently but also seek and give support to the group when required.

Relationships / Contacts

This position reports directly to Production Design Manager. Candidate is expected to establish and maintain contacts with all levels of the organization as well as external customers and suppliers.

Knowledge / Skills:

Basic PC skills (Microsoft)

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Proven record of hands on experience building tool and dyes. Portfolios, project samples, etc. are preferred to reference in interview.

Demonstrated leadership skills in a team/group environment

High aptitude for mechanical systems. Extremely "hands-on"

Understanding of tooling materials (especially steels) and their properties

Ability to multi task several projects at once, work with several interruptions, and prioritize assignments

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent engineering degree

Minimum 7-10 years experience with tooling design, manufacturing, assembly and runoff

3D CAD design experience (Solidworks preferred). Minimum 10 years 2D AutoCAD

Strong troubleshooting experience

Program/Project management experience

Automation systems experience a plus (PLC's, Robotics, Motors, Drives, etc.)

5 years experience working in a manufacturing plant and/or industry
