Spherical Plain Bearing Fits
Triangle Manufacturing Company's spherical plain bearings are available in multiple bearing fits. Bearing fits will vary as defferent applications may require them to be looser or tighter. Below are the floowing definitions to help you decide what spherical plain bearing fit is right for your application.
Optional Fits for Triangle's Spherical Plain Bearings
Tight Fit
The spherical plain bearing can be aligned with a shaft with difficulty when the mounting is bolted down or clamped in a vise.
Snug Fit
The spherical plain bearing can be aligned with a shaft without difficulty while the mounting is held in a vise.
Drag Fit
The spherical plain bearing can be moved with a shaft (plug gauge) while holding the mounting in your hand. It should be difficult to align without the shaft. No end play is allowable.
Light Drag Fit
The spherical plain bearing can be aligned with the fingers; some resistance is preferred during alignment with a maximum of 0.008-inch end play.
Spin Fit
The spherical plain bearing has no resistance to being moved and has a maximum of 0.010-inch end play.
Loose Fit
The spherical plain bearing may have more than 0.010-inch end play and is held loosely by the retainer ring.
Some overlap of spherical plain bearing fit types is to be expected. If the fit is not specified, we will ship products with a fit between light drag and snug. We do not charge extra for different fits.
